During the quarantine period, I'm sure many of us have had the chance to declutter and chances are we may have stumbled upon many school materials that our kids don't probably use anymore. If you do have them, Lingap Karunungan is currently having a donation drive for the needy kids who cannot enrol this school year. Thanks to Miss Niña Guerrero, who had this brilliant idea of printing abakada.ph's worksheets to share to the kids, I've had the chance to
have a quick and lovely chat with Lingap Karunungan's founder, Ms. Rousell Cuevas last week, about their advocacies in saving the planet and helping young kids at the same time.
What is Lingap Karunungan? This is initially a passion project by Miss Russ and her husband. Their goal was to collect excess school/art supplies from family and friends, particularly used crayons which they melt in silicon moulds so they come out good as new to be used by other kids. As we know, crayons are made of paraffin wax and are designed to last a lifetime. Unfortunately, most of them end up in landfills.
Their donation drive is ongoing and collection from the Philippines will be on the 15th of July, 5PM.
Among their beneficiaries are:
1. Relocation sites in SJDM, Bulacan (Heroesville, Pabahay and Lingap)
2. Brgy Cabittauran, Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte
3. Love Education
4. San Matias National Highschool, Pampanga
5. Child and Family Services Philippines, Baguio
6. Autism Society of the Philippines ( San Mateo, Binangonan and Tandang Sora)
