Short Vowel Sounds Activity

Subject: English

In this activity, the kids will need crayons and coloring pens. They are asked to look around and draw objects with the short letter a.

What is the difference between long a and short a?

Long A sounds like the way as if you are reading them. Also, most words that ends with an e will have long vowel sounds. While the short a sounds as if you are saying "ah."

Here are some examples:

Short a : cap, tap, bar

Long a : cape, tape, bare
