In this activity, the kids will need crayons and coloring pens. They are asked to look around and draw objects with the short letter a.

What is the difference between long a and short a?

Long A sounds like the way as if you are reading them. Also, most words that ends with an e will have long vowel sounds. While the short a sounds as if you are saying "ah." 

Here are some examples:

Short a : cap, tap, bar

Long a : cape, tape, bare
